About the Engine Saver Low Water Alarm
The engine saver originated when professional mechanic Davy Jones suffered an engine seizure in the remote Australian outback in 2000 caused by losing water from a burst heater hose.
From this experience he realised that modern cars, have almost no reserve of cooling water above the cylinder head because of low aerodynamic bonnet lines, when coolant is lost, the temperature gauge stops reading as it needs water around it to work properly, the high temperature warning light is difficult to see on sunny days whilst wearing sunglasses at highway speeds and loss of coolant means a seized engine within two minutes
The Engine Saver unit is solid state, industrial quality, heavy duty, epoxy filled, does not suffer from probe filming and has no moving parts. It is an extremely sensitive circuit which will operate over a wide range of values over a huge temperature range and yet is robust and extremely stable.
The Engine Saver is unaffected by the coolant coating the sensor probe with the high resistance film which prevents electrolysis. This is called probe filming which causes false alarms and tends to affect most other units on the market.
